Rather than providing you with an in depth explanation, here are six simple examples of what better Bible reading looks like practically. If you put in the time and implement what I teach here, these results are what you will be able to say once you start interacting with the content and courses I’ve created for you. If these resonate with you, then keep reading!
If that sounds like what you’ve been missing, then I welcome you-
You’ve come to a place made especially for you!
We’ve all experienced the vanity of empty reading. Think of it as the reading version of writer’s block. Sometimes this because of distractions. Other times it happens because we’re using not-so-good strategies. That might be okay if we’re talking about hobbies, but for Bible reading, we should not be content in such a circumstance!
To be clear, reading the Bible is a passion of mine. I have experimented techniques and practices by trial and error, in order to find the best way to enjoy the experience of Bible reading. But as you know, we live in a distracting world. Sometimes finding solutions to empty reading is not so easy. If your passion is Bible reading (or you want it to be) but don’t know where to begin, I am here to help you! I’ll teach you how to implement strategies to receive the most benefit from what is most important to you: The Bible- understood and enjoyed each and every day.
So how did this come together? What’s my angle and interest in helping you? Here’s a graciously short bio to give you some context:
My story is a little different than the normal order of events. At the age of 19 I was able to help start a church in my hometown. At the age of 20 I began training in order to serve as an associate pastor at the church. I had no formal learning in Bible college or seminary so I decided to study on my own and learn as much as I could.
This was a tough thing to do because there is so much information put out on the internet (I say that conscious of the fact that I speak to you now via the internet). It was tough to learn how to navigate through all the noise and find reliable learning platforms. After 6 years of preaching, teaching, making study curriculum and leading Bible studies, I learned two things:
This caused me to realize that my dream is not only to teach people the Bible, but to help people learn how to read it!
At that moment, Better Bible Reading was born!
Fast forward years later.. I now serve in a different church with preaching and teaching opportunities. I took a break from being a full time pastor and I decided to pursue formal theological training.
I am both a student and a teacher and I absolutely love it! My long term goal is to become a theology professor in order to help men who desire to serve in pastoral ministry.
But I’m not only interested in teaching in the academic world as a professor- I want to help everyday people who want to learn how to read and study the Bible.
Since then, Better Bible reading was created as a website, publishing blog articles podcast episodes and video content to help you read and study the Bible. In my Bible teaching career, I always love to help people experience clarity and find answers to their problems. But as you might know, we can only know the Bible if we take the time to read it. I am so thankful you are here. You are the reason I have created this site!
